The Dance of Form

‘To recognize one’s own insanity is, of course, the arising of sanity, the beginning of healing and transcendence.’ Eckhart Tolle

This is a great quote to use to begin to understand your own thought processes.

When we are not feeling at ease or at peace it is usually because we are trying to defend our ego in some way.

Tolle explains in greater depth as we continue to read about how to identify a reaction that arises from defending the ego and will always cause a temporary sense of satisfaction but will leave you ‘wanting’ for more.

It is an inner feeling that can produce a visual image of desperation and self preservation. When you are able to move past this desperate attempt to defend ‘things’ that are not actually in existence your world will change beautifully and you will move into alignment with your true self.

If you are finding that the idea of your ego is not clicking with you, you might like to consider if you are reacting in a way that is working to defend something that you have used to create an identity for yourself. We are surrounded by objects, things and forms that are used to identify us but also mask our true self from the world. This is the world of the ego.

Tolle is not proclaiming that you should give up everything in this world, although some do to embark on a spiritual journey, but to perceive your world differently. I have heard him describe this as choosing to stand in the present and watch the dance of forms and identities around you. I promise you there is no more joyous way to be in this world than to perceive it like this.

When you are feeling out of alignment, stop and ask yourself what you are feeling. If it is a ‘bad’ feeling, ask yourself ‘Why is this a bad feeling?’ Keep going back asking questions until you arrive at a point that you understand that you perceive it as a bad feeling only because you or somebody else has told you that this is a bad feeling. Decide that it is not actually such a bad feeling and it is not so bad to feel this way and watch yourself deflate your own ego. Can you do it? And if you are not ready to, are you aware that you are not ready to and are choosing to defend your ego?

Upon an understanding of this you can truly begin to have fun and learn to play with form. It’s not magic... It is you... magnificent being.

Happy Manifesting!

As I mentioned in another comment, I refer to A New Earth a lot. There's a lot to think about and absorb that just one reading doesn't accomplish.

Also, I want to let you know that I have passed the Lemonade Award to you. Get the details from my site as to why this is a special award. Have a great day!

Hi Julieanne,

Nice video choice once again. I enjoyed listening as I do to all Tolle things (and also reading). He makes it sound so utterly simple, doesn't he? I usually start out this way but but quickly turn into reacting. Well, even in the case when I do react, I at least know enough to let it be and then have an understanding as to why and how and so on.

Thanks for the great find.

Hi Lydia

Glad you like it! It is a bit longer than I would normally post but I think as he teaches us to be in the now it is a good exercise. He is such a gentle spirit and it does sound so simple.

Henry Ford once said that the meaning of life is so simple that we won't be able to comprehend it.

I have to agree. It is only us that complicate things.

We may not be perfect at it but awareness is a pretty good start I think.

Speak soon!
