Aligning Purposes

‘As soon as you rise above mere survival, the question of meaning and purpose becomes of paramount importance in your life.’

Eckhart Tolle

There are times when you may find yourself disenchanted with life. Maybe you are tired of your job, or find yourself on auto-pilot as you scurry around aimlessly trying to make ends meet. Survival mode takes over and consumes every part of your life.

As this happens, more and more negative ideas and thoughts start to pile on top of each other, you find that you can’t think straight or even stretch yourself to a smile, until eventually something inside you says ‘You have to stop.’ Listen to that ‘inside something’.

When you feel like this, you are out of alignment. Your inner and outer purposes are not matching up. You may feel that if only you had this, or if you only had that, then you would feel happy again.

This doesn’t have to be a problem.

In the first instance it is only a problem because you have labelled it to be a problem. Secondly, you have to get honest with yourself. Ask yourself ‘Why?’

There are always times when life seems to be on the up and up and it is only a question of balance that demands a little down time.

One thing to remember is that everything you do is a choice. You actually choose to stay in a place that is not in alignment with your true self. Upon hearing this statement, you may already be hearing the excuses. The truth of the matter is that the ‘down’ situation you find yourself in, somehow works for you.

Now you get to choose. Are going to make it different? Maybe it calls for enough honesty to admit to yourself that you have an addiction to something. An addiction is only an unconscious action. When you become aware of that and aware of the thoughts that come to defend that action, then and only then, can you begin to heal.

Once you find yourself focussed on your inner purpose, you will inevitably start to see that your outer purpose is starting to align with your true self.

If you find you are in survival mode, make a choice to do one thing that works on your inner purpose. Become aware of your surroundings and reactions to situations through breathing consciously and creating a space between you and the situation.

Take the pressure off yourself. You don’t have to do it all in one day. In fact you don’t have to do anything at all. It has, is and will always be... your choice!

Time to accept your freedom!

Happy Manifesting!

The more you turn inwards, the more you see it is all your choice and responsibility, and yet so much more...

Living in survival mode, externally, excuses are perhaps more likely to be made.

Hi Nathan!

I definitely agree with you. Excuses come hard and fast when you are defending your ego. Looking inwards in the only way to change this. It is a big call to be honest.

I love the concept that everything one does is a choice ... it is liberating because if there is no choice ... then we are stuck and powerless. In my mind, there is nothing worse than being powerless.

Wonderful post!

Hi Small Footprints

It is a great concept to remember. It instantly removes the thought that you may be a victim to something or a situation... and that has got to be a great thing!

It is a very powerful idea to remember. I have not shared this with my blogger friends only that they know my younger sister is very ill. But I think it is an example of the power of this idea so I will share it.

My sister is healing from cancer. She has had her bowel removed and we thought that she would be fine (with some difficulties of course) until recently they found cancer in her liver and had to remove 2/3 of it. She is now faced with having to deal with chemo again. She obviously feels quite victimised and is not dealing well with the thought of chemo. However we were having a discussion recently and spoke about taking chemo as a choice. She actually doesn't have to have chemo if she doesn't want to, no one can force her to, but of course it will be to her advantage if she does, if she wants to stay with us a little longer. There was an instant shift in perception from victim to gaining some control over this disease.

If my sister can see that she still has choices in this situation, I know we are all capable of acknowledging our possibilities.
