Emotions- You Can Choose!

‘An emotion usually represents an amplified and energized thought pattern, and because of its often overpowering energetic charge, it is not easy initially to stay present enough to be able to watch it. It wants to take you over, and it usually succeeds – unless there is enough presence in you.’

Eckhart Tolle

We choose.

We choose to allow our emotions to control us or we observe and use them as a guidance system.

Anger, one of our most volatile emotions is simply showing us that we are in the grasp of the ego and are justifying our inability to forgive. There has to be some outcome or recognition first before our anger begins to subside. When we are in the result of the emotion of anger we usually do not care what the outcome is so long as there is some acknowledgement in some way that we are right and someone else has done something wrong.

If we choose to return to the present moment we can recognise the emotion rather than be controlled by it. Sometimes even good emotions can be addictive and we can throw ourselves off balance, for instance in the case of someone that constantly looks for the next adrenaline rush.

There can be a healthy balance and when you step back and observe the emotion you can begin to ask why you feel a certain way or why you are attracting this emotion.

When we are overwhelmed with emotion we can often begin to react in an unconscious manner, for instance, losing our temper or acting on impulse demonstrating compulsive behaviour.

Our emotions are our guidance system. Are we moving in a direction that brings us closer and in alignment with our higher joy? Or are we reacting in a way that is somehow preserving a thought or aspect of the ego.

When we are able to step back into the present moment we can choose to realign or to continue in alignment with joy.

This does not always mean just doing whatever makes you happy because if this is your choice, without consideration for surrounding people, you can also induce feelings of guilt or greed for instance.

The trick is to deny the ego that temporary moment of satisfaction. Stand back and disidentify. Choose the direction that is healing, forgiving and balanced. Step into the present where you are nothing more than that moment and the answer will come to you.

When we are feeling negative emotions we can often find that more and more negative thoughts and ideas start to flood into our minds, constantly feeding the ego. I want to share with you what can happen when you choose to flood your mind with love and appreciation in the same speed that we can so easily find ourselves bringing negative thoughts and ideas into our experience.

Can't agree more. When we have negative thoughts, negative things will happen on us. When we practice positive thinking, we will attract happiness, fortune and love.
